What the day does

“What happens in you if I say the words “Open your heart””?

I was at yoga yesterday and my inspiring teacher started class with this question.

“Observe what comes up for you… what feelings emerge… what thoughts flow through you?”

In the silence interesting images came up. This request seemed so simple. What could possibly restrict opening my heart?

Oh dear… vivid images, wordy thoughts and old emotions showed their little faces. I decided to let them go. To exhale and focus on my heart.

Why are we humans so uneasy when it comes to opening our hearts? What are we afraid of? Perhaps of being hurt or being seen fully for everything that we are – and are not.

My teacher added “You may not like it. You don’t have to like it. Just observe… and open your heart.”

Only I have the key to open my heart. Only I can let it open. Only I…

During my recent travels to Denmark and Sweden to teach Reiki and to launch my new workshop “The Secret Agenda of the Soul”  I witnessed a lot of heart openings. And my heart opened. But the yoga class showed me that the heart has many ways of opening and even when it does in fact feel open it may still react challenged if it is suddenly prompted or unexpectedly encourage to do so.

Someone very dear to me gave me a card with a wonderful mural from Højby Church in Denmark. See the picture below. It is taken with a UV-technique that reveals it’s beauty to full extend. The mural is from around year 1150 showing Archangel Michael holding a key above his heart.

You hold a key the same way… not least to open your heart to his beauty and to the message he sends. And then see what the day does.

Here is a photo taken with a normal camera. You can see more of the murals by clicking HERE.

This particular mural is considered one of the most beautiful murals of an angel to be seen North of the Alps. It shows Archangel Michael helping God by weighing the souls on Judgement Day. However, in this image he is cheating with the scale for a sinner. I am wondering if anyone on this planet are free of “sins”? I think all humans are “sinners”, not least when it comes to consistency in having an open heart. And I think we all have access to help from this beautiful Angel we know as Michael. All we have to do is ask and open our hearts to be helped. It is interesting timing to receive this image in relation to Judgement Day considering December 21st is just around the corner. I open my heart to this new beginning which is clearly shown in the stars as a change of energy, but in my humble opinion it is hardly Judgement Day…

One of the things Reiki does, is open hearts. Perhaps that is the real reason why Reiki works. The life force, the universal life energy is a heart opener in itself, but what happens when we put our hands on our hearts, or someone else’s heart is proof. Again and again I am in awe of what Reiki brings about and what the energy helps us step into, particularly when it comes to self-awareness and healing. We cannot truly be self-aware and heal unless we open our hearts.

One of the other things Reiki does, is opening our creativeness and our ability to step courageously into spiritual exploration.

After the November Reiki class one of my students, Julien, sent a thank you note with a lovely song. He wrote: “It was perfect timing, perfect mirrors, perfect diamonds, satellites and souls! Here is a song I would like to share.”

This is the song:  What the day does.

It turned out that he composed it himself and recorded it in his lovely voice after the Reiki class. As you will hear he sings about a horse in the room during class. When I asked about the horse he explained that he believed the horse was present. He said, it was as if each of us had a horse. He had been told by an older Italian woman who lives in Denmark, that spirituality and spiritual energy is like a horse that you can jump on to anytime, if you are courageous enough.

So I invite you to get on your spiritual horse and open your heart for a beautiful ride through this special time we call Christmas.

P.S. Horse as a totem stands for power, travel and freedom.

In “Animal Speak” Ted Andrews writes: “If a horse has shown up in your life, it may be time to examine aspects of travel and freedom within your life. Are you feeling constricted? Do you need to move on or allow others to move on? Is it time to assert your freedom and your power in new areas? Are you doing your part to assist civilization within your own environment? Are others? Are you honoring what this civilization has given you? horse brings with it new journeys. It will teach you how to ride into new directions to awaken and discover your own freedom and power.”

The Medicin Cards say: “True power is wisdom found in remembering your total journey. Wisdom comes from remembering pathways you have walked in another person’s moccasins. Compassion, caring, teaching, loving, and sharing your gifts, talents, and abilities are the gateways to power.”
